Thomas Hardy
Thomas Hardy tours are a great favourite seeing the landscape that inspired
his writings,
the church at Stinsford where his heart is buried "under the
Greenwood Tree" and other
sites associated
with his works in Dorchester and throughout Wessex. Hardy's Cottage
is also
much visited and
many of the films of his books have also been made in Dorset.
Tours and walks can be specially suited for schools where Hardy's writings are
part
of
the curriculum.
Tolpuddle Martyrs
The Old Shire Courtroom in Dorchester is where the six agricultural labourers,

The courtroom and cells are essentially unchanged since 1797 and are
retained as a memorial to the men
whose trial and sentences so outraged the the public.
